Description

With a feel in between bristle and red sable, Black Sable has been favoured since the 19th Century for its strength & softness. It is highly valued for wet-on-wet oilcolour. It is excellent for delicate blending and smoothing out ridges on wet paint layers, so is a favourite among portrait and realist painters. Black Sable is also ideal for use with Golden OPEN Acrylic.

Flat lettering brushes were popularized by the Impressionists in the 19th Century, who used them for bold strokes and dabbing effects to describe dappled light. Today, flat brushes are popular for many painting techniques.

Seamless, nickel-plated brass ferrules set on long, polished handles give these brushes durability and perfect balance.
A rule of thumb for selecting oilpainting brushes is: when the surface is dry, use bristle brushes; when wet, use soft brushes.

When used on wet surfaces and cared for properly, Black Sable brushes will last for years.
