    Gordon Harris

Hi @Ashley Thank you for taking the time to write to us. We agree that Val’s piece was amazing and was so exceptional that Faber-Castell decided to extend a Merit prize out to this entry. The winning piece, the judges felt, was a fresh modern approach and had made an impact over the more than 70 entries. Unfortunately there can only be one winner and we appreciate your feedback. :)

Val White's entry was technically more advanced, more aesthetically pleasing, looks like it took more time and effort and fit the theme way more than the winners entry. This is incredibly disappointing.
