Introducing: Kanga Printmaking Presses

Introduction: We are excited to unveil the latest addition to our printmaking supplies range at Gordon Harris: the Kanga Print Presses. With their arrival just around the corner, we can't wait to share these versatile and user-friendly tools with artists and educators across New Zealand. Made in Australia and exclusively available at Gordon Harris stores and online, the Kanga Print Presses are set to revolutionize your printmaking projects.

Discover the Kanga Print Presses: The Kanga Print Presses are a must-have for any printmaking studio or classroom. Combining a clean design with simplicity and functionality, these presses are available in two sizes: A3 and A4. Whether you're an experienced printmaker or just starting out, the Kanga Presses provide an ideal platform for relief printmaking techniques.

Effortless Printing Experience: Printing with the Kanga Presses is a breeze. The hand lever ensures even pressure and ink distribution, resulting in consistently stunning prints. To get started, simply practice lifting and lowering the handle to familiarize yourself with its weight and movement. Ensure that your press is placed on a flat, non-slip surface for stability.

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Lift the handle straight up and open it.
  2. Ink your lino mat well, finding the perfect balance between not enough and too much ink.
  3. Layer your materials in the following order: protective paper with registration marks, inked carving, lovely print paper, and a felt mat.
  4. Bring the top plate down flat by holding the handle straight up at a 90° angle while you lower it. Gently press the handle down firmly a few times.
  5. Lift the handle vertically, straight up, and open it. For extra pressing, use your baren in a circular motion, especially around the edges. Remove the felt sheet and gently peel the paper off your carving to reveal your masterpiece!

Pair with Awagami Print Paper: For an enhanced printmaking experience, we recommend pairing your Kanga Presses with Awagami Print paper. Gordon Harris offers a range of high-quality Awagami papers that perfectly complement the Kanga Presses, allowing you to achieve exceptional results with your prints.
